Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery

The Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery, located on the New York Harbor in Linden, New Jersey, is one of the largest refineries on the East Coast and a key asset to the region and the state of New Jersey. Built in 1909, the refinery processes a mix of imported, and U.S crude oil. The new rail offloading facility, which began operations in August of 2014, has made possible the receipt of advantaged domestic crude by rail from the Midwest, keeping Bayway Refinery competitive in the global oil economy.

Bayway Refinery earned its nickname as the "gasoline machine" because it is home to one of the world’s largest fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) units, enabling the refinery to produce enough gasoline to meet more than half of New Jersey’s annual demand. Bayway refining units also include hydrodesulphurization units, a naphtha reformer, an alkylation unit, isomerization and other processing equipment. Bayway also has a polypropylene plant that produces 775 million pounds of plastic pellets per year.

Bayway Refinery is recognized for its long history of providing jobs, fuels, and years of contributions to the economy and local communities. The 800 plus employees of Bayway work hard every day to make it a priority that the refinery remains a safe, strong, viable, and successful company that can continue to provide energy and support for communities for years to come. Our high-performing workforce makes it possible for the company to achieve its mission of “Providing Energy and Improving Lives” and they live the Phillips 66 values of Safety, Honor, and Commitment each and every day.
