Lorraine Brooks-Body is a Target Marketing coordinator at Wakefern Food Corp. She works directly with store owners and zone managers to create incentives that maintain the growing customer base.
After working in the industry for over 40 years, Lorraine has a developed a knack for building relationships and understanding the needs of each owner in a network of over 200 stores. She takes pride in both her knowledge of the grocery industry and her role in breaking down barriers for women and people of color.
Lorraine began her career with Wakefern in 1971 as a Store Services clerk. Since then, she has held nine other positions within the company, all of which involve using data analysis to drive marketing and sales strategies. One of her most exciting moments was becoming the company’s first African-American female buyer, a position that fulfilled a lifelong dream and provided her with an opportunity to showcase her love of product.
Lorraine is a two-time recipient of Wakefern’s Customer Service Excellence award. She helped Wakefern become the first grocery company to join the Black Retail Action Group (BRAG), increasing opportunities for people of color in the food industry.
Outside of Wakefern, Lorraine enjoys working in the community and spending time with her family. She is the chair of the Roselle School District Steering Committee, president of the Urban League of Union County Guild and a board member of the African-American Learning Center in Elizabeth. Lorraine continuously shows her passion and dedication in all that she does and believes in providing the next generation of leaders with tools, resources and opportunities to excel. Lorraine earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Kean University. She lives in Roselle, New Jersey and was married 33 years to Larry Body. She is the proud mother of two children – Bianca and Lauren.
