Sandra Bellomo Director, Service Operations Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey
With more than 30 years of health care experience, Sandy Bellomo is the Director of Service Operations at Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey. She manages a team of more than 500 employees in multiple locations who handle more than 8 million phone calls annually by providing service & assisting members with inquiries related to their health benefits for Horizon’s 3 million Commercial market members. She administers a $45 million budget as she oversees the Service Operations organization’s claims, customer service, executive & regulatory complaints & appeals, as well as vendor & project management functions for Horizons Large and National Accounts. Sandy also oversees the Executive and Regulatory escalation team at Horizon and is a key contact for state regulators at the Department of Banking and Insurance. She is committed to enhancing our service model and building high performing teams taking service operations to the next level by improving processes, workflows, and technology to support new service capabilities.
Sandy has held a wide range of positions and has worked in various departments at Horizon including Service Operations Training & Quality, Contract Development, Complaints and Appeals, and State Health Benefits Operations. Sandy holds a Sales Producers license and is licensed to sell Life, Accident and Health Insurance. Sandy earned her undergraduate degree in Economics from Drew University in Madison NJ and lives in East Hanover with her husband and her two children.
